Five-Vehicle Crash Closes I-94 For 10 Hours

Northbound I-94 traffic was diverted onto Ryan Road Thursday morning.

Interstate 94 northbound between Ryan Road and Rawson Avenue closed for more than 10 hours Thursday following a five-vehicle crash.

According to a report from Fox 6, the chain-reaction crash involved three semi-trucks and two other vehicles about 12:20 a.m. One of the drivers was extricated and transported to the hospital by Flight for Life, but is doing OK, according to the report. There was no word on injuries to the other drivers.

Northbound traffic was diverted to Ryan Road, then to Howell Avenue and on to Rawson.

The freeway was still closed for so long because crews had to unload the semis by hand in order to move them, according to a report from WTMJ.

It reopened about 10:45 a.m.

How is the Lake Parkway Expansion and Drexel Interchange going to cut down on accidents?

@concerned citizen my post was about traffic optioins.... if drexel was open people could have bipassed the accident at drexel instead of going all the way to rawson to get back on the freeway.... same thing with the lake park extension, people could have used that as an alternate road. it had nothing to do with preventing accidents.
