Brynn Weinzirl has been named this year's Distinguished Young Woman of Oak Creek.
The daughter of Lora and Shea Weinzirl, Brynn received a $400 college scholarship and opportunities for other scholarships. She will participate in the Distinguished Young Women of Wisconsin program this summer.
Weinzirl competed against five other candidates -- Hannah Roehr, Cali Piojda, Marissa Widenski, Sarah Kick and Taylor Smith -- at the annual program Friday at East Middle School.
Kick won the Alternate and Scholastics Award, while the Spirit and Program Promotion Awards were presented to Smith.
Candidates were evaluated in five categories: scholastics, interview, talent, fitness and self-expression. Weinzirl, who studies at the Oak Creek Academy of Performing Arts, performed a jazz dance for her talent.
