Burglary Suspect Leads Police On High-Speed Chase
Speeds reached 100 miles per hour as officers pursued a suspect, who remains at large, on I-94.
A burglary suspect led Oak Creek police on a high-speed chase Wednesday afternoon and is still at large after officers terminated the pursuit near the airport.
According to an Oak Creek police report:
An officer responding to an alarm at CSM Bakery Supplies, 7350 S. 10th St., just before 4 p.m. saw a vehicle flee the scene at a high rate of speed.
The officer pursued the vehicle, which went through a red light at 10th Street and Rawson Avenue, drove over a median, headed west on Rawson and got onto northbound I-94.
The vehicle weaved in and out of heavy traffic. The officer went about 100 miles per hour trying to catch up before police called off the pursuit at 4:06 p.m. near the airport exit.
The vehicle continued northbound and was seen on state Department of Transportation cameras exiting at Howard Avenue and turning south onto 2nd Street.
Police identified a 30-year-old Milwaukee man as the suspect. A black van with Florida or Georgia plates was seen near CSM and is believed to be a lookout vehicle.
Officers found footprints near the northeast corner of the building that led to a small opening in the rooftop. It was unknown if anything was missing from the business, which closed in 2011.
