Caledonia, Franklin Protest Proposed Oak Creek Water Rate Increase

A 31 percent increase in the wholesale rate has been proposed.

Franklin and Caledonia, both of which get water from the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility, are protesting the utility's proposed 31 percent wholesale rate increase, according to a story from the Racine Journal Times.

The proposed increase, which still needs approval from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, is being sought to help the utility pay for a $13 million treatment plant expansion completed in 2010, according to the newspaper.

The application was filed to the PSC in May and is subject to change.

While the increase is in the amount those two communities pay for water, Utility General Manager Steve Yttri said it does not mean a resident's water bill will go up that much. As proposed, a typical residential user's bill would go up $7.16 per quarter, and a small residential customer's bill would increase $3.87 per quarter, Yttri said in an e-mail.

The utility previously announced that its investments in technology during the last plant expansion will save rate-payers the equivalent of $10 million in the long term.

On our way to a two class society. The elite and the rest of us depending on the elite for our well being. Hmmmmm sounds a bit like socialism? Just like the smoke and mirrors with the so called 8.3% unemployment now. Really? What about those who have entirely given up, are under employed and how many of those jobs were Government positions.

I sure hope so. Then again, I'm one of the elite. It's great to be me, lol.

Patriot, what district do you live in?
Text book defination on the evolution of governing bodies indicates "we" the people would be better off in a socialist society than imperialism. Were not a "republic" and democracy isn't working.

@Vocal-Its apparent that a socialist society has worked very well for other nations, Greece, Spain, France ect. See thats the problem, We are a Republic who has been over run by these progressive Liberals pushing their agendas onto the people. Democrocy does work!! That is what our forefathers brought to this Country. What we need is smaller Government, Self Responsibility and the Big One Common Sense

Please explain, Given: at times the super rich have paid seventy percent of their earnings in taxes. Generally times of war. Currently they are paying less than thirty percent. The area of gray, that confuses me is the need of the American Capitalist to compete in the international market. Thus, may I conclude that we the people are paying for their military defense? Also, the American Capitalist, the super rich have historically exploited the working class. Workers worked 12 hour days, six days per week and could not afford to buy meat for their families seven days a week. Labor laws forced employers into an eight hour work day, five day week. I maintain we need to cut the work week to create jobs and give Americans more opportunity to enjoy life.

I do not completely disagree with you. Yes, I agree the big mega corporations are seeking to control and dominate. But on the other side we have the Big Unions pulling their strings. We The People are being tugged from all directions. My point exactly that Government has become way to big and involved in peoples every day lives.
That is why i find Dr Paul a true representitive of the peoples Republic. Its really become a battle of Good and Evil. The Book of Revalations has never been more true and apparent than today.

But I also do not believe Obama has our best interest at heart either. We have become such a police state now more than ever under his watch. Little by little our freedoms are being trampled on. That I am not ok with.

Patriot, I agree. You know Joe Biden wrote the Homeland Security Act prior to Okla City.
Are you aware that cops start out at $46,109. per year here in OC. If you add on the first year fringe:55,428 thats more than the mean income of the residents. If they stay for five years they are up to 67,228 plus benefits so around seventy grand and they don't even have to live here. I'd like to see the Patriot Act abolished. Get rid of all the TSA employees that do little more than hassle the plane flying public. Anyone can still get onto a plane with everything it takes to make a bomb and they know it.

We have monsanto who genetically engineers our food so they can creat all these diseases thru the name of food. We are being controlled I feel by the Central Bankers and people like George Soros.

Voc and Pat

Put down the gas mask. Come out of the bunker. There is a place I think both of you will feel comfortable. "Ruby Ridge". This discussion is about water rates rising. Not Obama, Biden, TSA. Do you have any input on it, or are you going to just rant.

Yes if you read my first post. Just something else to take more of the little we have left. I do not agree with the increase as I feel we already pay thru the nose for water. Taxes are extremely high and for a family of 6 I already pay approx 1200 to 1400 a year for water.

I have read many stories on the subject of the water utilitys becomming privatized some day. If that happens none of us will be able to afford water. Water a natural resouce which we have an abundance of yet we pay dearly for it.
