Can 13th Street Work Wait Four Years?
A reconstruction of 13th Street is finally in Milwaukee County's plans, but it will be awhile before any improvements are made.
While a reconstruction of 13th Street is now in Milwaukee County's plans, work on the treacherous roadway is still four years away.
The county plans to reconstruct the portion between Rawson and Drexel in 2016 and Drexel and Puetz in 2017.
Officials say they hope to continue moving south on 13th Street after that.
But will the road make it another four years? Patch users chimed in earlier this month:
Bikes:
If you want to have any part of your car still intact I would avoid taking S 13th St. starting now! It's quite a ride.
Dirk:
A dune buggy is the best thing to drive between Rawson and Ryan Road.

Figures...The county won't properly prioritize projects...but wait...The county is outsourcing the patrol of "County Parks" from the County Sheriffs to to the city of Milwaukee Police Department...
What do you think? Are you happy that the street is at least in the county's plans, which represents an improvement from when the year began? Or is the street in too much disrepair to wait that long?

With the truck traffic it sees it should also be of better construction...maybe concrete should be used instead of just asphalt which breaks down after only a few years of truck traffic. It could also stand to be widened in a few areas to allow passing of vehicles that are pulling into driveways and onto side streets...nothing like traveling behind someone at speed limit (40 MPH) and having to hit the brakes because they realize at the last minute that they are at their house or need to turn onto a side street and fail to use their turn signal. And it could use curbs and gutters.

If this was on the north side or in the city of Milwaukee it would have been fixed a long time ago , it seems Oak Creek is always at the bottom of the ladder when it comes to county projects case in point Bender park . But they are not shy in taxing us .
