Car Catches Fire on Howell Avenue

After a driver smelled smoke about 9 a.m. and pulled into the Classic Lanes parking lot, the fire quickly escalated.

A fire caused extensive damage to a vehicle northbound on S. Howell Avenue, but the driver escaped with no injuries.

According to an Oak Creek police report, the driver smelled smoke about 9 a.m. Friday and pulled into the parking lot of Classic Lanes, 7501 S. Howell Ave.

Smoke then started coming out of the air vents. By the time the police and fire departments arrived, the car was engulfed, according to the police report.

The fire is believed to be electrical and limited to the interior of the car. The engine did not suffer damage.
