Construction Begins On 27th Street Grocery Store
GFS Marketplace will operate a 15,900-square-foot store north of Rawson Avenue.
Construction is under way on Gordon Food Services' new store on 27th Street.
The GFS Marketplace will be 15,900-square-foot store north of Rawson Avenue on the Franklin side of 27th.
The facility will be used for retail, though plans allow for a future restaurant and outdoor dining expansion.
GFS is known primarily as a food-service distributor but also has more than 140 Marketplace retail stores in nine states, including one that opened last October on Miller Park Way.

Where's the outrage and protesters? Isn't there a Walmart within a few blocks that could drive them out of business? I thought Walmart was toxic to any other food store.

Another business on the Franklin side. What's the matter with the Oak Creek side?
We need the tax base too.

Oak Creek is waiting for Wis Park/We Energies to acquire land so that they can buy it back at an inflated cost, and then develop it.

But we get fast food joints , and empty strip malls .
The other day I drove north on 76 st from Oakwood rd . a lot of construction going on in the industrial l park area . Oak creek is a backwater city and run by a bunch of hicks that bought into the pie in the sky bull from wi pack .The planing dept should all be fired and hire some people who know what they are doing .
