Council Keeps Alcohol Sale Start Time 8 A.M.

Oak Creek Common Council denies Roundy's request.

The Oak Creek Common Council last week denied an ordinance change that would have allowed alcohol sales at grocery and liquor stores to begin at 6 a.m.

The request came from Roundy's, which has sent requests to many communities, including Oak Creek, to change the time to 6 a.m. to align with a new state law passed in December.

Oak Creek aldermen said they would rather keep the current ordinance, which dictates that grocery and liquor stores cannot sell alcohol before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. Some communities, like Franklin, have done the same; others, including South Milwaukee, have changed to 6 a.m.
