Deerfield Raises $1k For Hunger-Relief Groups

Students also helped raise money for Coins for Kids.

Deerfield Elementary raised $1,000 for hunger-related charities during its Harvest Fest earlier this year.

Deerfield students actively participate in the planning and development of a vegetable garden each year, according to the school's website. After harvesting, the school hosts the Harvest Fest, in which the community can enjoy a variety of soups.

This year, students voted to donate $800 of the money raised to Feeding America and $200 to Hungry for Life.

Deerfield students also helped raise $750 for Coins for Kids, which helps provide Christmas for disadvantaged children.
