Falk Park Land Swaps Near Completion
Under a proposal, Milwaukee County and Northwestern Mutual would exchange lands to pave the way for an expansion of Falk Park.
Land swaps between Milwaukee County and Northwestern Mutual took another step forward Tuesday as the deal nears finalization.
Following a closed session, the Oak Creek Common Council approved a tri-party agreement between the city, Milwaukee County and Northwestern Mutual.
Under a proposal, the county gets 75 acres, much of it south of Drexel Avenue and east of 27th Street, while Northwestern Mutual gets 50 acres near the future Drexel Interchange.
The Milwaukee County Parks Department wants to expand Falk Park, 2013 W. Rawson Ave., and preserve some of the last remaining wetlands in the county.
Northwestern Mutual, meanwhile, would get land that can be more easily developed, although the company says it has no immediate development plans.
The swaps, which have been several months in the making, are expected to become final at the end of July, Mayor Steve Scaffidi said.

I wish the county would put up more signs on the hiking trails.... I got lost on some of the smaller trails recently... lol... great place for hiking though.... I've seen deer close up and even a couple coyotes a few weeks ago.

I found and destroyed a poachers deer stand at Falk park yesterday. Keep an eye out for a redneck who is too lazy to go up north.
