Get Out: Children's Bike Rodeo and More This Weekend

Patch offers a look ahead to the weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’re looking forward to the weekend but have no plans for how to enjoy it.

Every week, we'll list five activities that you can use to spend your done-work-outta-here time.

Mitchell Street Sun Fair

Where/When: Historic Mitchell Street, Milwaukee/Friday, 4-10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Sunday, noon-8 p.m.

Why Go: Features entertainment, carnival rides, games, family-friendly activities and music, as well as visits to two historic churches – St. Anthony and St. Stanislaus.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: /Friday, 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Frank Carini will be honored for his dedication and service to the community. Features a cash bar, dinner and a scholarship presentation to an Oak Creek High School senior with more than 500 hours of community service.

Pricing: $25/must be purchased in advance

Plant Sale

Where/When: South Shore Park, Bay View/Saturday, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why Go: Join Bay View Garden and Yard Society for a sale that hosts a variety of local commercial plant vendors. Bakery items and coffee will also be available for purchase.

Pricing: Free

Tree Planting Workshop

Where/When: Municipal Service Building, 800 W. Puetz Road/Saturday, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Oak Creek residents can take advantage of an informational workshop with the city forestry staff. Features planting demonstrations, tree selection, planting do’s and don’ts, as well as follow-up care.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: American Legion Post 434/Sunday, noon-3 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Oak Creek Police Department for biker skill level tests, bike demonstrations, an obstacle course, giveaways and a chance to win a new bike.

Pricing: Free for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
