Get Out: Hiking, Polar Plunge Coming Up This Weekend

Potlucks, hiking, fish and chicken fry, polar plunge highlight the weekend ahead.

It’s Friday, and you’re looking forward to the weekend but have no plans for how to enjoy it.

Every week, we'll list five activities that you can use to spend your done-work-outta-here time.

Here are this weekend's picks:

    • Where/When: /Friday, 4-8p.m.
    • Why Go: There may not be a better way to ring in the weekend in Wisconsin than with a fish fry.
    • Pricing: $8.25-8.50 depending on the dinner
  1. Milwaukee Polar Plunge
    • Where/When: McKinley Marina/Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
    • Why Go: Support Milwaukee’s Special Olympics athletes and run into the icy waters of Lake Michigan.
    • Pricing: $75 donation
  2. Greater Milwaukee Auto Show
    • Where/When: Frontier Airlines Center/Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Why Go: Get a chance to sit behind the wheel, inspect engines and learn about new automotive technologies while checking out a variety of vehicles under one roof.
    • Pricing: $10 adults, $7 students and seniors, $5 children ages 7-12 and children under age 6 are free. 

    • Where/When: /Sunday, 4:30 p.m.
    • Why Go: Come enjoy fellowship, food, entertainment and a silent auction that consists of donated services provided by church members.
    • Pricing: Free, just bring a dish to pass.
  3. Sugarin' Off Sundays
  • Where/When: River Bend Nature Center/Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes and fresh maple syrup, followed by a hike through the woods.
  • Pricing: $3 for children and $7 for adults
