Get Out: Memphis, Senior Prom and More This Weekend

Our weekend planner offers a glimpse of what's happening in and around Oak Creek.

It’s Thursday, and you’re looking forward to the weekend but have no plans for how to enjoy it.

Every week, we'll list five activities that you can use to spend your done-work-outta-here time.

Here are this weekend's picks:

Where/When: South Shore Cinema/Thursday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: A chance to see the Tony Award winner for Best Musical in your own hometown. It's also showing at 7:30 p.m. May 3.

Price: $20

2. 

Where/When: South Shore Cinema/Friday, before 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: People age 60 and older can enjoy a matinee movie at a special discounted rate on any movie playing before 5:30 p.m. every Friday.

Pricing: $4/seniors

Where/When: American Legion Post/Friday, 6-9 p.m.

Why Go: The Oak Creek Police Auxiliaries are holding a spring dance for Oak Creek East and West Middle School students. Proceeds benefit the OCPD Auxiliaries. Students must bring student ID.

Pricing: $5/student

4. Arbor Day Celebration and Citywide Cleanup

Where/When: Franklin Public Library/Saturday, 9-11 a.m.

Why Go: Stop by the Franklin Public Library for a free tree sapling on a first come, first serve basis (one per child or family) courtesy of the city of Franklin and the Franklin Environmental Commission. Also, pick up a trash bag and help the city of Franklin with its “Great American Cleanup Day” event. Participants are asked to pre-register with the Franklin Public Works Department.

Pricing: Free

5. 

Where/When: Oak Creek Community Center/Sunday, 1:30-5 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Rotary Club of Mitchell Field in “A Step into Spring” with dancing, music by the Village Swing Band, door prizes, boxed lunches and the crowning the king and queen.

Pricing: $4/senior
