High Water Forces Closure of College Ave. Near Airport

Oak Creek hit by severe thunderstorm Monday.

This morning's heavy rainfall left its mark in Oak Creek and led to a closure of College Avenue near the airport Monday afternoon.

Authorities closed a stretch between Howell and Pennsylvania avenues due to high water. A severe thunderstorm rolled through the area in the late morning hours.

@Mark that is amazing.... it wasnt even a bad thunderstorm. There is a story for you, look into the engineering firm responsible for the design!

This is the information I received from the Highway Dept.
The sod that was recently laid above the street was washed away and into the catch basins causing a blockage and back up of the sewers. Once the sod was removed, all the water flowed properly.

I had a similar but smaller scale issue at my previous house. You'd be suprised what grass will do to stop water flow and absorb it.
