Library Friends Group Readies for Book Sale
The sale, held each year in conjunction with National Night Out, has many more materials than previous years.
If the Friends of the Oak Creek Library's book sale seems bigger this year, it's because ... it is.
The annual sale, held Aug. 7 during National Night Out, features many more items than previous years. So much so, in fact, the sale has been extended an extra day.
The big increase in materials is because, as part of its preparations to move to a new building in 2014, the library recently weeded out old, under-used books that hadn't been checked out in years.
Those books were donated to the Friends' group and will be on sale Tuesday.
The sale will be held from 3-5 p.m. for Friends of the Library members — memberships can be purchased at the door — and 5-8 p.m. for non-members.
The Friends group will be back selling items at the library, 8620 S. Howell Ave., from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday. Materials can be purchased at regular prices from 3-6 p.m.; from 6-8 p.m., people can fill up a bag for $1.
The sale will be across the parking lot from National Night Out, held at the Oak Creek Community Center from 6-9 p.m.
