Man Arrested for Carrying a Gun at MATC

Case is being forwarded to district attorney's office.

A 64-year-old Oak Creek man was arrested after carrying a loaded gun at MATC-Oak Creek Tuesday.

According to the police logbook, a maintenance worker called police at 6:25 p.m. and reported seeing a student with gun tucked between his chest and shirt or possibly in a gun holster.

Upon questioning by police, the man indicated he thought could carry a gun; however, police noted that MATC has signs posted that prohibit weapons.

The man was arrested on a state charge of carrying a weapon on school property. The case is being forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

The gun was a semi-automatic handgun loaded with six rounds, according to police.

This could have very well been a innocent mistake. It sounds like he was no threat to anyone. I wonder how visible those "prohibit weapons" signs were. Hopefully, the district attorney's office will not pounce on this student. A state charge seems pretty drastic to me.
