Man Charged With 3rd OWI

A 30-year-old man had a preliminary blood-alcohol content almost four times above the legal limit to drive, according to police.

A 30-year-old Oak Creek man is accused of driving drunk on S. Howell Avenue in front of an Oak Creek police officer Wednesday.

David R. Asselin was charged Thursday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court third-offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail and $2,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

An Oak Creek police officer spotted Asselin driving erratically in the 9500 block of S. Howell Avenue and pulled him over. Asselin smelled of alcohol and was given a Breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.29, nearly four times above the legal limit of intoxication to drive in Wisconsin.

Asselin was previously convicted of OWI in 2004 and 2009. He’s currently free on a $750 signature bond while awaiting trial.

Wisconsin has the higest percentage of drunk drivers in the U.S. and the most lax laws on drunking driving . More people are killed by drunking driving every year then all of the mass shootin, were is the out rage on this , after the 2nd offense it should be a mandatary sentence of 10 years and life if somebody is killed also need to go after the tarven operators for serving drunks knowingly.

Dan, get with the program. How many times would you have been convicted driving home if the current laws were in effect then? WI also has one of the lowest limits of blood alcohol in the nation. Your considered under the influence at a lower rate. I can only have one drink. Two and I'm drunk? Incarceration isn't working. We've closed most of the neighborhood pubs and raised the cost of obtaining a liquor lic. to ten grand. Humans like to drink intoxicating beverages especially here in OC if the road trash I pick up is any indicator. Wonder if Edwards is continuing Bauer's long term study? Your just getting too old to remember all the drunk driving you did. Time to take Sandy to Rollies and refresh your memory.
