Man Parked on Oak Creek Lawn Faces Drunken Driving Charges

Police found truck was up against fence on Chicago Road.

An Oak Creek man is facing charges after police found him parked on the front lawn of a residence on Chicago Road in January.

William R. Derrick, 25, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of second-offense operating while intoxicated and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. If convicted, he faces up to six months in prison and $1,100 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Jan. 22, Oak Creek police found Derrick inside his truck while it was parked on a lawn and up against a fence in the 9400 block of S. Chicago Road. Derrick smelled of alcohol and after getting out of the truck he was unable to walk without stumbling.

He had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 at the time of the incident, which is more than twice the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.

Derrick was previously convicted of drunk driving in 2006. He will make his initial appearance in court March 9.

Oak Creek police also cited him for operating after suspension.
