Oak Creek Firefighter's 'Last Ride'
Several area fire and police departments were part of a tribute for Robert Wojczulis of Oak Creek, a Milwaukee County firefighter at Mitchell International Airport.
A giant American flag draped over Layton Avenue in Greenfield set the backdrop for a ceremonial 'last ride' for a Milwaukee County firefighter Friday morning.
Robert Wojczulis, 53, died of pancreatic cancer May 13. The Oak Creek resident was a firefighter at Mitchell International Airport the last nine years. Before that, he was a Milwaukee police officer for nine years and was also a 30-year military veteran.
Fire and police apparatus from several departments, including Milwaukee, Greenfield, Franklin and Oak Creek were part of a funeral procession that left from Max A. Sass & Sons funeral home, 4747 S. 60th St., east down Layton Avenue toward Wojczulis's final resting place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Cudahy.

I work at the cemetery where he was buried. the person that wrote this article did not do this ceremony justice. there were fire fighters from wauwatosa, franklin greenfield, saint francis, cudahy, the 128th refueling air national guard, hales corners. the city of cudahy also had a giant flag draped over college avenue in front of the cemetery. there also just happened to be a convention of honor guard firefighters in milwaukee they were all there. There was also a military honors. there was a police escort and also a motorcycle escort. it was a once in a lifetime ceremony that people will probably never see again. RIP and thank you for your service to the county tech co mmunity and your country.

I meant to say at the end of my comment thank you for your service to your community your country and the county. and for the person who wrote this article please learn how to spell cemetery. When you write an article about a person in the community who would have given his life for a citizen or for his country, please be a little more giving and specific in the article. you also should have taken more pictures at the cemetery. With all the fire trucks there and all of the honor guard there people would have liked to see what an honorable ceremony it was.

if you have any more photos, feel free to upload them by hitting the "upload photos and video" button underneath the gallery. Our Greenfield Patch editor only had a chance to take photos as it proceeded through Greenfield.

This man was not an honorable man. For him to have this kind of send off is absolutely disgusting. Clearly the people that organized this don't know the real Robert Wojczulis. Its very upsetting to see all that was done for him, he did not deserve any ounce of it.

What has he done wrong? He was pretty much the perfect person!
