After Mitt Romney's performance in the Wisconsin presidential primary and two other states Tuesday, the conventional wisdom has it that the former Massachusetts governor essentially sealed his party's nomination.

In Oak Creek, Romney ran even stronger than he did in the rest of the state.

According to unofficial results, Romney got 2,936 votes in Oak Creek (56 percent). The next closest was Rick Santorum with 1,593 (31 percent).

The other contenders left in the race were quite a ways back -- Ron Paul got 414 votes and Newt Gingerich just 187 votes.

Across Wisconsin, Romney got 43 percent of the vote, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

President Barack Obama, meanwhile, got 1,628 votes in Oak Creek.

The city's voter turnout was 37.2 percent. The presidential race surely played a key role in the large increase from February, when turnout was just 19 percent.

Judicial races

In the contested races for court of appeals judges:

• Nelson Wesley Phillips edged out Carolina Stark in Oak Creek, getting 2,645 votes compared to Stark's 2,589. Stark won the race with roughly 57 percent of the vote.
• Lindsey Grady performed well locally, getting 2,843 votes to Hannah C. Dugan's 1,960. Grady won the race overall with about 60 percent.

Other fun facts and leftover tidbits:

• 6,861 Oak Creek residents voted in the presidential primary. That's pretty close to the number who voted for Oak Creek mayor -- 6,740.

• Michelle Bachman and Jon Huntsman, both of whom dropped out of the presidential race months ago, received 34 votes and 19 votes, respectively.
