Shirtless Man Fights With Police on 27th St. Median
A 27-year-old man allegedly beat a woman inside Walmart, then struggled with Franklin police after a traffic stop.
A 27-year-old Oak Creek man is facing charges after he allegedly beat a woman inside the 27th Street Walmart, then ripped off his shirt and tried to fight police officers in the median of S. 27th Street.
Eduardo Rivera-Soto was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of battery-domestic abuse and one count of resisting an officer. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On July 26, a security officer inside Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., saw Rivera-Soto throw a woman he was with to the ground and punch her twice in the face. The couple then left the store in a Lincoln Towncar, but the security officer contacted Franklin police.
Officers pulled the car over in the 8000 block of S. 27th Street and ordered Rivera-Soto out of the vehicle. Rivera-Soto got out, walked to the back of the car and tossed his driver’s license on the car.
When he was told he was being placed under arrest, Rivera-Soto broke free from a police officer and ran into traffic and onto the median, where he took off his shirt and yelled "let’s do this" to officers. It took three officers to eventually subdue and arrest Rivera-Soto.
The woman Rivera-Soto hit was still in the car. She suffered a cut to her upper lip and swelling on her cheek from the incident inside Walmart.
Rivera-Soto is currently free on a $500 signature bond while awaiting trial.
