On, Wisconsin: UW Band in South Milwaukee
The famous marching band played to a sold-out crowd in neighboring South Milwaukee Saturday.
The University of Wisconsin marching band performed a variety of songs, including an Elvis Presley medley and a tribute to the Jersey Boys, for a sold out crowd at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center Saturday.
Director Michael Leckrone, who has led the band for the past 43 years, kept everyone entertained with stories from the band's trip to the Rose Bowl in January.
The band marched in the six-mile Tournament of Roses parade prior to the game. With television cameras only present in the beginning, the parade directors asked the band to play continually for the first half-hour. After that, the directors told Leckrone they could play whenever they saw patches of Badger fans, but he chose to show a little more pride.

"We played 'On Wisconsin' 97 times that morning," Leckrone said.
The event helped raise money for the South Milwaukee Music Parents Association.
