A widened Pennsylvania Avenue between College and Rawson will open in time for the Wednesday morning commute, Oak Creek officials say.
The contractor working on the project is in the final stages and has committed to finish its work by the end of Tuesday, according to an e-mail to city officials.
The street has been closed since June as crews expand the street to four lanes. It will also have improved street lighting and sidewalks.
Work on improvements for pedestrians at the intersection of Rawson and Pennsylvania will likely continue into December, but it is expected to cause only minor inconveniences for drivers.
South Milwaukee Blog first reported the reopening. Construction was scheduled to finish in October, but weather pushed back the street's reopening.
