Police: Driver in Crash Was Drunk, Texting

A man was arrested for drunken driving-causing injury following a car-motorcycle crash early Sunday morning during the freeway shutdown.

A driver in the car-motorcycle crash early Sunday at 13th Street and College Avenue was drunk and texting at the time of the accident, according to an Oak Creek police report.

According to a police report, the vehicle was northbound on 13th Street and slowing for a stoplight when it rear-ended the motorcycle about 12:20 a.m. Sunday, causing the motorcyclist to fall from the bike and strike his head on the pavement.

Police arrested the driver of the vehicle for drunken driving-causing injury. He later admitted to officers he had his head down because he was texting on his phone, according to the police report.
