Probation Ordered For Woman Who Burglarized Nursing Home
The 23-year-old Oak Creek woman admitted stealing money and pills from residents of a West Allis senior living facility.
A judge has ordered probation for an Oak Creek woman convicted of stealing money and pills from residents of a West Allis nursing home.
Jessica Ann Kroon, 23, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years of probation after pleading guilty to two felony counts of burglary. A third count was dismissed as part of a plea deal. If she violates the terms of her probation, there is a prison sentence waiting for her.
Kroon was arrested in May after admitting to taking money from the rooms of a 91-year-old man and a woman suffering from dementia at Village of Manor Park.
According to a criminal complaint, the man agreed to let staff put a hidden camera in his room after he reported $400 stolen from a lockbox.
Several days later, he reported another $100 missing from the lockbox. When staff reviewed the footage, they saw Kroon open a dresser drawer, then leave with her hand in her pocket.
Kroon told investigators she worked at the facility since 2009 as a certified nursing assistant and began stealing from the facility in 2011. She estimated she took about $2,000.
Kroon also said she would sometimes receive Vicodin pills to pass out to residents, then swap the pills with Tylenol and keep the Vicodin for herself.
She faced a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, 10 years extended supervision and $50,000 in fines.

2 1/2 yrs probation, just will not "HELP" anyone, & I like the way you threw in, "There is a prison sentence waiting. Unless there was a typo & she's a med tech, 1st off, NO CNA can pass meds, in a nursing home they have to be a Med Tech! Wake up people!!! this is what's killing our friends, family, neighbors!! How sad, I hope she gets the help she needs, not just a prison sentence!! I say Mandatory in-patient treatment, I can only imagine this has to be hard already, remember, this is an addiction, where talking about, this article is embarrassing for her I'm sure, that's the 1st step, the harsh reality, of what she has done, now, let's not judge, let's help her, that fine, sounds crazy, pay back the residents & let her have the help she needs, So she can make things right, that sentence, is setting her up to fail, I understand, the families aren't happy, but pls give this girl a chance, we as a community have to start caring somewhere, to many young lives are gone because of these pills!!!
