Recall Supporters Say Petition Was Defaced

Police called to incident on 27th Street Jan. 7.

Oak Creek police responded to a complaint Jan. 7 from a group collecting signatures on petitions to recall Gov. Scott Walker.

The group was in the 6400 block of S. 27th St. (near Pick 'n Save) about 1:50 p.m. when, a member of the group told police, someone "defaced" one of the petitions.

According to the police department logbook, someone wrote "Thank you Scott Walker for not raising" on the petition before it was pulled away by one of the recall workers.

The group took photos of the person and the vehicle and forwarded a license plate number to police, who were still investigating.
