More Construction On Commute Downtown In 2013
Residents traveling on I-94 between Oak Creek and downtown Milwaukee will be impacted by the rehabilitation of 13 bridges between the Marquette Interchange and Howard Avenue.
If you frequently use I-94 to commute to and from downtown Milwaukee, you have more construction to look forward to next year.
The state Department of Transportation plans to rehabilitate 13 bridges between the Marquette Interchange and Howard Avenue starting in the spring of 2013. The work will include bridge deck overlays or replacements, bridge repair and painting, according to the DOT's website.
Plans call for one lane to be closed during the construction. Officials say they wanted to get the bridge work done before the Hoan Bridge and Zoo Interchange projects, as that stretch of I-94 will be used for detours.
Work on the north-south I-94 project will also continue next year and include a reconstruction of the Rawson Interchange in Oak Creek.
