Rezoning Allows For Recreation Area at Sikh Temple
The Sikh Temple of Wisconsin will add two sand volleyball courts, a tennis court and a soccer field.
The Oak Creek Common Council has approved a zoning change that will allow the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, 7512 S. Howell Ave., to build two sand volleyball courts, a tennis court and a soccer field.
The recreation area will be just south of the building. The proposal includes a "significant amount" of landscaping to screen the area from the neighborhood to the south.
Plans for the recreation area were in the works prior to the Aug. 5 shootings at the temple.
The council approved the rezoning unanimously in its meeting Tuesday night.
