Rollover Crash at Puetz and Howell
No one was injured in an accident that occurred about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The Oak Creek police and fire departments were on the scene of a rollover crash at the intersection of Puetz and Howell avenues Tuesday afternoon.
Battalion Chief Joe Pulvermacher said paramedics evaluated vehicle occupants but none had to be taken to the hospital.
The crash appeared to involve an eastbound vehicle that flipped over in the left-hand turn lane. The accident also took out a traffic signal.
The cause was not immediately known.

Perhaps high speed or texting while driving?

Perhaps that little car hit a cigarette butt?

In these types of accidents, when driving conditions are perfect (no rain, snow or fog and in the middle of a sunny day), I always wonder how the heck a driver manages to flip the car. The only thing that I can imagine is an inattentive driver that then panicked/severely over compensated when he/she became attentive to a situation. How do these "drivers" (I use quotes, because if it is the result of inattentiveness and then panic, they are not really a driver) have, or keep, insurance....or do they even have it?

I should have an update on the cause of the crash either today or tomorrow...in the meantime, I would be hesitant to speculate until we actually know.

Only comment I will make is about those "Left Hand Turn Lanes ON Puetz." Since moving to the area I have always found when turning left onto Puetz from the left hand turn lane on Howell; that those left hand turn lanes on Puetz are extremely intrusive to the right hand Puetz lanes. Just think those left hand turn lanes on Puetz are poorly designed.

Unless there were two rollover crashes that day on Howell, this accident saw three people transported to the hospital and sadly resulted in a fatality.
