School Board To Discuss Bonuses, Teacher Union Contract

Teachers would get a one-time, $550 bonus under a proposal in front of the Oak Creek-Franklin School Board.

Update: The measures were approved.

The Oak Creek-Franklin School Board is scheduled to vote tonight on a pair of measures related to teacher pay.

One of those measures is a proposal that would give Oak Creek teachers a one-time, $550 bonus. School Board members favored the idea last month, saying it would be a way to increase pay without raising teachers' base salary.

Under state law, teachers can only negotiate for their base pay. But school boards determine supplemental wages, which can include bonuses, stipends or merit pay.

The board will also take up a tentative agreement with the Oak Creek teachers union. Terms were not immediately known.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the district offices, 7630 S. 10th St.

Thank you to the Oak Creek Patch for publishing this information. Most school boards make sure the agenda and reports are all on their web site for people to be informed. That does not seem to be the case for Oak Creek.

Agendas aren't that easy to find but they are on the school district's website at this link: http://www.oakcreek.k12.wi.us/brd.cal.cfm
