Top Five Nearby Destinations: Waterparks, Pools and Beaches

Oak Creek Patch scouted the closest places that offer water fun - pools, beaches and waterparks.

Since summer wraps up after Labor Day, you may be wishing you still had a few more weekends of lounging by the pool or beach. Don't worry, you can still enjoy a few more weekends of splish splashing water fun in the September sun.

Even though Oak Creek only has one beach to offer, there are several beaches, pools and waterparks within 13 miles from Oak Creek.

  1. Bender Park
    • Distance: 0 miles
    • Location: 4600 E. Ryan Rd., Oak Creek
    • Features: bluffs, six-lane boat launch, sand beach, hiking trails and restrooms.
  2. Grant Park
    • Distance: 3.1 miles
    • Location: 100 S. Hawthorne Ave., South Milwaukee
    • Features: beach with changing rooms, restrooms, snack bar and playground.
  3. Sheridan Outdoor Swimming Pool
    • Distance: 5.7 miles
    • Location: 4800 S. Lake Dr., Cudahy
    • Features: swimming and wading pool with showers and changing rooms.
  4. South Shore Park Beach
    • Distance: 8.1 miles
    • Location: 2900 S. Superior St., Milwaukee
    • Features: beach with bathroom, nearby picnic area and marina.
  5. Paradise Landing
    • Distance: 12.5 miles
    • Location: Hilton Hotel, 509 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee
    • Features: Open every weekend from 3-10 p.m. on Fridays, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sundays.
