Whiz Kid: Eagle Scout Sean Marshall

Council presented Eagle Scout honoree with proclamation.

The Oak Creek Common Council commended recent Eagle Scout honoree Sean Marshall on Tuesday.

And so will Patch in our weekly "Whiz Kid" feature.

The council proclamation congratulates Marshall for achieving the Eagle Scout award, a rare feat that less than 4 percent of Scouts accomplish.

Marshall and a group of volunteers combined to put in more than 365 hours into the project, according to the proclamation. He started by removing asphalt and regrading an area near the Parish of St. Matthews to create a better flowing trench. That led to a vegetative swale designed for better drainage, less erosion, easier maintenance and a more visually-appealing area for St. Matthews.

Mayor Dick Bolender and Police Chief John Edwards presented the proclamation to Marshall on Saturday.

Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout? Did your local soccer team take the championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kid honoree. To submit a nomination, e-mail mark.schaaf@patch.com or use the comment section below.
