Your Chance to Ask Candidates About Key Issues Facing Oak Creek
From taxes to roads to development, the Oak Creek Common Council will tackle numerous key issues in 2013. Patch wants readers to pose questions for the three candidates running in next month's primary election for 1st District alderman.
Three candidates are running for the 1st District aldermanic seat in the Feb. 19 primary election, and Patch will be there every step of the way as we cover the race.
But this time around, we are going to have our readers get more involved in our coverage of the campaign. And we're starting by asking you to help us formulate questions for the candidates.
Oak Creek Patch will soon contact the candidates vying for the Common Council seat to get biographical information as well as their views on the issues facing the city. But we don't want to be the only ones posing the questions; we want to hear what's on your mind as well.

The three candidates on the primary ballot are incumbent Alderman Dan Jakubczyk and challengers Shawn Vollmer and Steven Kurkowski. The top two vote-getters will advance to the April 2 general election.

I'd like to know each of the candidates opinion on reinstatement of Citizen's Action, Mark Verhalen, et al, Direct Legislation on Spending. The group worked through and financed three lawsuits which the city lost forcing the city to adopt local law forcing the council to referendum on spending. As soon as legally possible the council under Bolendar with Scaffidi on the council voted to overturn taking voice away from the residents and allowing the huge debt spending plan the city has bought into in a depression.
I also ask how they would curb rising employee costs especially the costs of fire and police, library and the health department.

I would like to know what is going to be done regarding transportation and flow regarding the Drexel Town Square. Howell ave is now already worse than 27th street. We do not need more congestion. I also want to know why we have no input into the stores and/or restaurants in Drexel Square.
