I'm sorry, your law degree is from where?

Hydra, is the article about who's law degree from where? Please stay on task. Are you familiar with Read Moreany other illegal opinions the city attorney has rendered? How about the one a few years back when he recommended Alan Foeckler to replace Bolendar? Remember, Al sold the city down the tubes with the WisPark, Drexel Square deal????Then to top it off he came back with Gee, this isn't what I broke the tie vote for when the new civic center draw became a big box store. OC home owners need pay attention they're going to get burned BIG TIME.

The law doesn't mandate public comment. However, there is legal procedure that must be followed byRead Morea board to change policy on public comment. Library board members don't have a clue as to this procedure thus the president did it for them illegally as she really doesn't know what is what either. Actually, public comment at all city events is a waste of one's time as the minutes from the record do not reflect citizen comment. The better way to assure one's comments go into the record is to submit comments in writing prior to the meetings. At least council meetings where the clerk will assure they become a part of the record. Over at the library the director might just disappear with them and not even alert the board members. It will be so much nicer once the state abolishes local government and the graft and other BS it represents.

So you are admitting you point is stupid? Whatever and by the way you can be sued for libel.

The point is not stupid. you may be as your writing reflects. The library board has/is violatingRead Morethe law in process of changing public comment. The members take an oath. Are they breaking the law in not following the letter of the law, YES, they are. Sue me for libel. Have at it but before you waste your money seeking legal assistance review the laws of libel.

There are other ways to contact public officials other than at the meetings. Some of these meetings Read Moredrag on for hours.

I remember when the public was involved in decision making in this city. Bolendar and We EnergyRead Morecont racts plus the repeal of the Direct legislation mandating the city bring major spending issues to the residents via referendum ended all that. Now your lucky to see any speakers at council meetings. Where chambers used to be packed all you see are city workers and development firms in the audience. Citizen speakers are so rare Stevie forgets to even acknowledge public present. The meetings do not drag on for hours it's cut and dried usually all aye votes to present a united force. I remind all the city is currently re-evaluating residential properties to increase the levy as the mil rate is controlled by Madison. When your taxes double will you object and will you have voice? I think not.

My concern is: the contracts b/w city and WisPark were made prior to the depression were in.Read MoreDevelo pment has stagnated still the city is pushing deeper into debt spending. I'm content with open space not an asphalt jungle packing people on top of people. In short the re-development and development is too vigorous for our economic climate and NO I don't want my taxes raised for any reason. If new development can't pay it's way government should not tap me for it's folly.
vocal local 1 January 29, 2014 at 10:22 AM
I fully agree commercial development should decrease residential tax liability. Unfortunately,Read Morethat' s not the way it's working across WI at this time considering the huge tax breaks and benefits granted developers to lure them into the communities. By the time the new commercial developer exhaust the breaks and should contribute to the tax base they often leave the community. See WisParks holdings in OC and the tax rate they are paying. If ya wanna see something even more interesting review the land swaps and sales in which the city sold acres of virgin land at less than fair market value to WIS Park then couldn't balance the books and lost money on the deals.
