Intro to Zen Center and Dharma Talk

At 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, Rev. Teacher-in-Training Brie Somlai and Abbot Mathew Somlai will lead an Introduction to the Original Root Zen Center. This is an opportunity for someone new to ORZC or to Zen practice to learn about the Zen Center and practices held here. 

Following the Introduction, at 7 p.m., Original Root Zen Center Rev. Teacher in Training Brie Somlai will give a talk on the Zen Buddhist practice of compassionate action. Abbot Mathew Somlai will lead a question-and-answer period after the talk. Mathew has more than 20 years experience practicing Zen Buddhism. He is a writer and professor of anthropology, and the editor of Sangha, ORZC's new magazine on "walking the path of compassion, creativity and community." The talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served afterward.

The introduction and talk will be at the Original Root Zen Center on The DeKoven Center grounds, 600 21st St., Racine. The Zen Center is near the south end of the East Building.
