Members will lead two separate tours at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. starting at the Greendale Historical Society tent area next to the Gazeb o on Broad Street.\nThe society recently revamped its tour guide pamphle t that has been in use for well over fifteen years or more. The new colo r brochure offers photographs\, an enhanced map\, and a few historic fac ts along the way. It is designed as a self-guided tour for visitors to G reendale but with historical society members leading the way\, the addit ional details and personal reminiscences they have to offer makes the to ur a richer experience of village life.\nAccording to Christopher Leinbe rger\, author of The Option of Urbanism\, &ldquo\;walkable urbanism is i n demand&rdquo\; and his research demonstrates the rise in consumer inte rest in walkable neighborhoods. The parks\, pathways and green spaces of Greendale envisioned by the original federal planners were prescient lo ng before it was hip and trendy. They encouraged healthy lifestyles\, ad ded value to the community\, and became one of a number of contributing factors in the Village of Greendale being designated a Preserve America community and a National Historic Landmark.\nDonations accepted.
