OC elect running scared for their lives

No vote on approval of new city hall plans. Plans sent back for revision to include a bullet proof glass partition separating your paranoid elect from you. Are they suffering guilt from wasting tax payer money? Methinks so. Chief Edwards thinks city hall should look like the police station. RUN SALLY RUN.

Maybe you are correct. But Then: Considering the aldermen and mayor are also subject to harm shouldn't they consider a secure chambers with bullet proof glass similar to a secure court room separating them from the public for their protection also? When a community exercises Eminent Domain against the residents of a community those residents just might barge into chambers and open fire especially seeing the mayor joined forces with Mayors against Guns. Yes, we have to protect our elect now instead of retro-fitting at a later date and bearing the later expense.

Good Idea. An officer on site could also conduct strip searches as well as body cavity searches and like TSA agents bust more of the public carrying more cash than one is allowed and minor amounts of illegal drugs, which would increase revenues generated from muni court. Your idea would also support keeping the general public at bay and in the dark as they would have to arrive two hours early to clear security. The mayor and council will love your suggestion as well as chief Edwards who could hire additional personnel.

Sorry Pale Rider a US citizen in the US of A is subject to being held if they are found to have more than ten thousand dollars in cash on their person and sometimes even less. Try getting on a plane carrying ten grand. TSA is going to hold you, confiscate the cash and hold it until they are satisfied you came by the funds legally. That you saved it over time under your mattress is not a correct and acceptable answer. They won't accept you won it in a crap game and if you won that amount at a casino there would be record. Missed your flight too bad, not a legal arrest but a hold. Withdraw or deposit ten grand and a govt report is generated by the bank per govt. regulations. Drugs will not set off a metal detector but drug paraphernalia does so leave your pipe and rig at home. It's in the search post setting off the metal detector in which drugs are found. Look up the numbers of arrest at your local international airport and the reasons for those arrests. The last time I viewed a report the most frequent arrests were made for small amounts of drugs and disorderly conduct. Not terrorist suspects. Americans are not free

Ignorance is bliss. This is a primary problem here in OC. The dumb don't know and the smart don't tell. Didja hear the Mayor froze wages for all city personnel? Do ya believe it? Two departments, water and library staff can receive salary increases. In addition, last year library approved lump sum pay to employees. Do you know what this means and what the amounts were? Salaries are frozen but we'll give a select few a bonus. More deep tunnel BS.

I stand awakened. You are correct, neither water nor library employees are employees of the city. Please tell me who cuts their checks? Remember the library budget for this year is 890,030 with 708,820 going directly to library staff plus additional benefits. I don't know as of this writing where the funds for their shirts or their lump sum pay out came from last year. Nor do I know how much they have in their newly created roll over fund. I would think money from any and all departments budgeted and not spent would return to the general fund at the end of year or become deducted from the following years budget. Isn't it nice to learn that they are not. This is wipe out of the middle class by your government and in this case your local government/business associated.

Oak Creek is pretty ghetto. I don't blame them for needing protection.
vocal local 1 February 06, 2014 at 03:36 PM
What do you mean OC is pretty ghetto? Drugs? The heroin problem no one wants to talk about. The racial blend, economics? The people? I don't understand.

All of the above. And the countless vinyl sided apartments.

Cody, please give more. I've given a lot of thought to what your saying trying to understand. I don't think you used the right word "ghetto" what I think you should have more accurately wrote is slum and not limited new development to apartments. The contractor I asked said the majority of new housing west of HWY 32 doesn't even have wood walls that it is cheap housing construction that in time will erode (or a good wind storm) into slum with high maintenance cost inclusive of look good civic buildings of poor quality and durability. Here today, gone tomorrow. Am I on track? In contrast the existing city hall and library are actually much better construction as was East Middle School.

Slum is a better word. I don't always travel into Oak Creek, but when I do I choose to leave.

I hear ya. I really lose my kool when forced to speak with the ignorance that doesn't realize how ignorant they are. OC resident's are so unworldly and driven by egotism. I expect more with each changing of the guard only to get more of the same. I love the east side it has character an unheard of here but still I fight and lose as the city drags ever downward into a cesspool of debt on the backs of the unsuspecting powerless residents.

Learn to read pale rider. I wrote the majority of new housing meaning single family residential doesn't even have wood exterior walls. On top of the wall studs there is foam and then the vinyl siding. A burglar today should be able to bypass one's security system by not touching a door or a window simply by using a utility knife to cut through the an exterior wall. Further, you are incorrect and the IDIOT pale rider when it comes to construction as neither multi-family nor commercial uses steel studs. They may have to use steel I beams but am not sure about that either as they might be using fabricated I beams as they do in most residential. Steel in homes is a thing of the past.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. Anyone reading these posts recognizes who doesn't know diddly. We can teach people to read most to do math but we cannot change one's intellectual ability. As I stated earlier in this post: "the dumb don't know".

In conclusion, after stopping by city hall today and talking with staff I maintain a secure bullet proof window at the clerk and treasurers counter is not appropriate. There are other ways to keep the public at bay which just might be representing them not trying to weasel every last dime they own out of them to support city workers, wasteful spending and unseasonable building. While I was there I chanced to read the Libraries heating bill for December: 8,000 dollars. Last months expenses are on display in the hallway. We have excellent city hall staff. Doug in planning is very competent and could have designed a much better building than Bray has on his salary. Katherine, city clerk can talk the most obnoxious angry resident down as she will listen and do whatever she can to assist. Barb, is going to account for every penny that enters the city coffers. Unfortunately, she has no control over what is spent or we'd be very rich not in debt spending. Judy in the health department reports the residents she and her staff service are pleasant and that she has never had any altercations with residents. I didn't see Eddie who I think would laugh at having to hide behind bullet proof glass or Mike from Engineering. Seems only the mayor, some council members and the Chief of police are worried now why is that?

Sorry Ladies, I can't leave you out. Marie would roll her eyes and walk away and Maggie would grab a broom and beat any threat out of the building.
