Family Health Night Draws Crowd

Last night's Family Health Night at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Franklin had a lot to offer.

Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare of Franklin -10101 S. 27th Street - held its first ever "Family Health Night" Thursday evening. The event drew crowds of area families and provided them with more than a few fun activities. .

When I pulled into the healthcare facility, the sight of so many firetrucks and ambulances throughout the parking lot was certainly surprising. Area firehouses provided numerous emergency vehicles for the special night, so kids and their parents could take a closer look at what they're all about.

The fun continued inside, where kids could have their teddy bears scanned for injury/illness while enjoying a free ice-cream sundae.

Also inside, several local firehouses competed in a chili cook-off, judged by local dignitaries such as Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor, South Suburban Chamber President Mark Hansen and Oak Creek's own Alderman Steve Scaffidi.

In the end, the Tess Corners Fire Department took the prize.Β

Upstairs, Wheaton Franciscan showed off one of their ICU rooms, complete with a life-like robotic patient (sporting Packer attire, of course). Children who visited the room got to walk away with their very own stethoscope - which is a lot of fun to play with, by the way.Β

As one of the largest integrated regional health care delivery systems in Wisconsin, Wheaton Franciscan organizations provide one-fourth of the total health care delivered in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Racine, and Ozaukee counties.Β
