Puetz Road To Close At Railroad Tracks

Drivers will be unable to cross the railroad tracks for a two-week stretch that starts Monday.

Puetz Road will close at the railroad tracks for two weeks so crews can construct "quiet zone" improvements.

The closure will take place from Aug. 12-23. Properties on Puetz will still be accessible; drivers just will not be able to cross the tracks, City Engineer Mike Simmons said.

The detour route will be Howell Avenue to Drexel Avenue to 13th Street. The railroad work means the Oak Creek recycling yard will also be closed for two weeks.

Construction got under way earlier this summer to rehabilitate Puetz Road from Howell to Liberty Lane. Part of the work includes raising the median to allow a quiet, or "no-whistle," zone, something neighbors have wanted for a long time.

Construction is expected to be completed by the time school starts Sept. 3.
