Award-Winning Musical Coming to South Shore

"Memphis" will be shown in Oak Creek for three days next week.

"Memphis," which won Best Musical at the 2010 Tony Awards, will have a limited run in select Marcus Theatres next weekend, and that includes Oak Creek's .

The performance, which was performed and captured live at New York's Shubert Theatre, will play at 7:30 p.m. April 28, 12:30 p.m. May 1 and 7:30 p.m. May 3.

Inspired by real events, "Memphis" takes us back to the segregated 1950s, where a young, white deejay wants to change the world of radio, and a talented black singer looks to make a name for herself.

When their paths collide, everything changes and a cultural revolution ensues. The Christopher Ashley-directed play features explosive dancing, frequent laughs and a lot of rock n' roll.

"Memphis" is still playing on Broadway to sold-out crowds, so the ability to see it from the comfort of your hometown is quite an opportunity.

Tickets are $20 for each showing, which will begin with a behind-the-scenes exclusive about the musical. Estimated runtime for the show is two hours, 25 minutes.

For more information on "Memphis" or to buy tickets, visit Marcus Theatres' official site.

Grow up. We won't forget either. That those of you who had a little bit, held tightfisted to it likeRead More a four year old unwilling to share his toy truck. That you endorsed and supported a man who has gone on to undermine this state, its jobs, its infrastructure, its education system, its people, its very foundation. You remember...it was you who did this.
