Award-Winning Musical Coming to South Shore

"Memphis" will be shown in Oak Creek for three days next week.

"Memphis," which won Best Musical at the 2010 Tony Awards, will have a limited run in select Marcus Theatres next weekend, and that includes Oak Creek's .

The performance, which was performed and captured live at New York's Shubert Theatre, will play at 7:30 p.m. April 28, 12:30 p.m. May 1 and 7:30 p.m. May 3.

Inspired by real events, "Memphis" takes us back to the segregated 1950s, where a young, white deejay wants to change the world of radio, and a talented black singer looks to make a name for herself.

When their paths collide, everything changes and a cultural revolution ensues. The Christopher Ashley-directed play features explosive dancing, frequent laughs and a lot of rock n' roll.

"Memphis" is still playing on Broadway to sold-out crowds, so the ability to see it from the comfort of your hometown is quite an opportunity.

Tickets are $20 for each showing, which will begin with a behind-the-scenes exclusive about the musical. Estimated runtime for the show is two hours, 25 minutes.
