Join Your Local Firefighters to Help Kids and Young Adults with Muscular Dystrophy

The Oak Creek Local Firefighters 1440 will encourage you to help kids and young adults with muscular dystrophy from Thursday August 18 through Saturday August 20.  They’ll be standing at the corner of Puetz and Howell with their boots in hand, just waiting you to contribute to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

The firefighters will be out there Thursday and Friday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday from 11am to 2pm.

Muscular dystrophy is a hereditary disease in which proteins necessary for muscle functioning is impaired.  The money collected by the firefighters will go to summer camp, clinics at Children’s and Froedtert hospitals and paying for wheelchair repairs - in other words to make lives brighter.

MDA's Fill-the-Boot program is supported by fire departments across North America. Last year, Wisconsin firefighters raised $600,000.  Help your local department top that number this year.

MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education.
