Moo-la-palooza – the world famous mooing contest at the Wisconsin State Fair!

Moo-la-palooza will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Cousins Subs Amphitheater.  The grand champion moo-er will win $1,000, a year’s worth of free Cousins Subs, the coveted cow print jacket and the prestigious golden cowbell trophy.

Moo-la-palooza is the final stop on the 2011 Moo Tour, which visited Appleton, Madison, Green Bay, Jefferson, and Racine in search of the state’s best moo-ers. Moo Tour finalists from throughout Wisconsin will show off their best Bessie bellow at Moo-la-palooza, and walk-up contestants are invited and encouraged to join the human herd in competing for the grand champion title.  Registration begins at noon – contestants must be 5 years of age or older and up to 75 people will be allowed to moo.  There is no cost to enter and registrants will receive free T-shirts and other prizes. Additionally, Cousins will donate $20 per moo to the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Foundation. Since it began eight years ago, Moo-la-palooza and the Moo Tour have raised more than $13,000 for 4H.

Contestants at Moo-la-palooza get two chances to moo and are judged on realism, style (including stage presence and energy) and originality – extra points are awarded for humor and costumes. Moos will be evaluated by a four-person judging panel that includes the 2010 Moo champ, 11-year-old Austin Siok of Burlington.
