Pure Romance Offers a Girls Night In

Directing in-home parties for women looking for a "girls night in" doesn't seem to be a bad way to make a little money on the side.

Oak Creek resident Melissa Muszynski is one of many consultants with Pure Romance, now a large corporation that began in a basement in 1983. It's an in-home direct selling company known as a leading resource for women's sexual health issues with a mission of educating and empowering women.

The parties cater to anyone, from a stay-at-home mom to a single woman, Muszynski said.

"It's really focused on making the woman feel like she needs to focus on herself in order to make sure she feels good," she said.

Muszynski got the idea to be a consultant after attending an in-home party. She began in January and eased into it with parties for family members and friends.

Pure Romance offers bath and body products, as well as relationship enhancement products. But it's about much more than selling, Muszynski said.

"It's more about empowering and educating women, which is great because it's not just about trying to sell stuff," she said.

For Muszynski, who works full-time at Oak Creek Dental Care, Pure Romance is a side project in which she not only gets to help other women, but also earn some extra income.

Muszynski said she encourages women looking to make some side money to give consulting a shot. Consultants can work as much or as little as they want, and Pure Romance does a great job of making them feel comfortable about running their own business, she said.

"You're in business for yourself, but not by yourself," Muszynski said. "They're going to help. I never would have thought I would run my own business someday because it's kind of a big ordeal. But they're ... going to help you with everything."
