Caterpillar Layoffs In S. Milwaukee Could Reach 300

A lot is still unknown about job losses, which will reportedly take effect by summer.

Caterpillar will lay off up to 300 workers at its South Milwaukee plant by June, according to media reports.

Patch's media partners at BizTimes Milwaukee reported that much remains uncertain, such as whether the layoffs are temporary cuts or permanent dismissals, and if they are affecting only union staff or both union members and management.

Caterpillar's global mining headquarters are in Oak Creek at 6744 S. Howell Ave.
