Double the Jazzercise Fun

Popularity of Chicago Road business led to second facility on 13th Street.

Peggy Estis was a satisfied Jazzercise customer who became a certified instructor and opened up her own facility.

Buoyed by the success of her first Jazzercise Center in Oak Creek at 9543 Chicago Road, she opened a second one within two years.

Jazzercise is an all-in-one 60-minute workout fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing. Each group fitness class combines dance-based cardio with strength training and stretching to sculpt, tone and lengthen muscles in a fun and powerfully effective total body workout.

In just one workout, customers can burn up to 600 calories.

"I like the fact that our classes are group fitness classes that create an effective workout that's fun," Estis said. "I tried many other clubs and nothing compared to Jazzercise. You're just dancing to music and getting fit at the same time."

"I started as a customer about five years ago and lost 108 pounds. Jazzercise has given me years of my life back. Convinced that I had found my calling in life, I decided to become an instructor and open up my own Jazzercise fitness center to stay fit and help others achieve their health goals."

Within one year and five months, her made "platinum" status, ranking within the top 3 percent of all Jazzercise franchisees this year.

Shortly before it celebrated its two year anniversary, Estis was opening the doors to her second location - Oak Creek Jazzercise West Fitness Center, 8041 S. 13th St., last May.

"It's been an incredible journey so far," she said. "Opening our first center July 6, 2009, and seeing 12 of our customers transform into certified instructors is amazing. Our dedication from customers and word of mouth has been one of the biggest factors of our success and has provided us the opportunity to open a second location for the Oak Creek community."

Her first Jazzercise center started with only 12 customers, a few instructors and offered seven classes per week. Now, just two years later, she has more than 260 customers, 16 instructors and offers 58 classes per week between both facilities.

"My instructors really care about our customers and are the heart of our business," Estis said. "Without them, we wouldn't be where we are today. I can't thank them enough."
