New Grocery Store Opens Sunday
Samples and specials planned for the new GFS Marketplace store.
Get your first look at the new Gordon Food Service Marketplace store opening on 27th Street just north of Rawson Avenue.
The grocery store opens Sunday, Oct. 7, and customers are encouraged to check out free samplings and giveaways all week. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Ribbon cutting for the new store will be at 10 a.m.Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce.

The GFS Marketplace is a 15,900-square-foot store, though plans allow for a future restaurant and outdoor dining expansion.
GFS is known primarily as a food-service distributor but also has more than 140 Marketplace retail stores in nine states, including one that opened last October on Miller Park Way.
