La Terraza Has Closed

The owner of the popular Mexican restaurant at Ryan and Howell was told to vacate the building by Sept. 1, according to the city clerk's office.

Popular Mexican restaurant , 9454 S. Howell Ave., has closed.

The city clerk's office was informed the building has been sold and La Terraza's owner, which leased space, was told to vacate by Sept. 1, Deputy City Clerk Christa Miller said. For-sale signs have been up on the building, at the corner of Howell Avenue and Ryan Road, for some time.

La Terraza owner Jose Alvarez told the city he hopes to open in another location, but wasn't sure if it would be in Oak Creek, if it happens at all, Miller said.

Alvarez could not be reached. The phone number listed to La Terraza is disconnected, and no one was at the building when Patch stopped by Thursday.

La Terraza offered reasonably-priced authentic Mexican food and featured an enclosed terrace dining area. The restaurant was a local favorite β€” earlier this year, it won .
