MATC Event Promotes Manufacturing Careers

The "Heavy Metal Tour" allows attendees to talk with manufacturers, tour MATC and work with computerized equipment and robotics.

Middle and high school students and their parents, as well as job seekers and other community members, can learn more about manufacturing careers at an event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Milwaukee Area Technical College, 6665 S. Howell Ave.

Dubbed the "Heavy Metal Tour," attendees will tour the school's Energy Conservation and Advanced Manufacturing Center, talk with manufacturers and work with computerized equipment and robotics.

They will also learn about the number of career options in the manufacturing sector and training opportunities for those jobs.

Among the companies participating are Iverson & Company, Harley-Davidson, Allis-Roller, Quad Graphics, Senior Flexonics GA Precision, Busch Precision, CHR Hansen, Walter Tools and Manitowoc Cranes.
