Milwaukee-based WPC Technologies has purchased a 74,000-square-foot building at 7350 S. 6th St. in Oak Creek and will relocate there this year, according to a report in the Milwaukee Business Journal.

The newspaper also reported that the company has started discussions with Oak Creek and state officials about financial support. The city has had some initial talks with the company, but nothing definitive has been agreed upon, said Doug Seymour, the city's director of community development.

If the city got involved, it would likely be to match a state Transportation Economic Assistance grant, Seymour said. The Oak Creek Common Council would have to give final approval on any such measures.

WPC manufactures "innovative products for the coating industry - leading the way in corrosion and stain inhibitive technology," according to its website. Some of its products include pigments for coil, aircraft, vinyl wash and general primer coating applications.
