Strip Mall at Rawson/Howell Finding Its Niche

Parlour Salon & Spa is the latest tenant in a building that once struggled to find tenants but now has developed a wellness theme.

After an initial struggle attracting tenants, the strip mall at Rawson and Howell avenues appears to have found its niche.

Parlour Salon & Spa is the latest business to open in the multi-tenant building, 7001 S. Howell Ave. Owner Nikki Ramseier relocated her South Milwaukee salon to the bigger space in Oak Creek about three weeks ago.

Parlour joins Affiliated Health of Wisconsin, Great Lakes Dermatology and Hyatt Chiropractic as tenants of the building, which sat empty for most of 2012.

In addition, an ophthalmology business will also open soon, according to Ramseier.

She noted the building is starting to develop a theme.

"It's almost like a wellness center," Ramseier said. "It's nice. It's a good match."

Ramseier was excited to open in Oak Creek, where herself and all of her staff members live.

She was attracted to the location based on the high traffic counts and big development projects planned for the city.

"We saw this and we just took a chance on coming here to be bigger and to do more for our community," she said. "They're trying to develop this area more, and Rawson and Howell is such a centrally-located place to be."

Parlour specializes in hair and skin care, and also offers facials and body waxing.

Customers' comfort is the staff's main goal, Ramseier said. It's how they did business in South Milwaukee and they're hoping to transfer that to Oak Creek.

"We want everybody to feel comfortable and just think of it almost like their home," she said.
